1st SemiFinal: ClutchFraggers vs Mad Mounties 2 on dod_santos

Well, the first ever official CFL Regular Season is over, now its crunch time, now its time to make all those hard-fought victories and opposition forfeits count! The SemiFinals have begun, and four lucky teams now have the chance to win the first ever CFL tournament.

In this particular SemiFinal the new team with not so new players, ClutchFraggers come up against the pee-wee team of the Mad Mounties Clan, Mad Mounties 2. ClutchFraggers have the more experienced players, but like any team they need time to gel together and learn everybody's game, Mad Mounties 2 also were formed just before the beginning of this comp and contain within them some good new up and coming players, some are new to the game, others (Militia) practice it like its one of many dominant world religions. With that said, CF go in to be the favorites looking the more experienced line-up, and also after winning the teams previous encounter on solitude_rats by 330-185.

The map is santos, a familiar site to all but the really new players. The key is always the two bridges where the rifles and sniper will guard and push up bridge and the spammers will move across the broken bridge. The difficult task is to capture the bridge whilst avoiding the inevitable camper that will shoot you from 1 of the possible 298 degrees that you can be shot from. The bridge cap takes patience and players pushing ahead to best avoid the cap being broken.

Prediction: CF by 2-3 caps.

Post-match thoughts:

It took a few minutes for cF to warm up to the task, but when they did they held bridge for pretty much the whole match. They were up against a 5 man MM2 team, Shifty was capped and dropping out every 2 or 3 minutes and getting a whole heap of assault binks, and Erazer was doing his standard racking up the kills and constantly picking up the nearest available enemy weapon within eyesight. Despite what is on the screen shots cF played with 6 until about 5 minutes to go in the last half where Rusty dropped out, and MM2 had Ghost01 join in the dying minutes of the first half to replace the forever dropping out Shifty. cF capped out 3 times in the first, they could have had one or two more if MM2s defense wasn't so stubborn. MM2 were on the defensive for the whole match; they finally took the bridge for the first time at the dying stages of the first half.

The second half was still largely cF, MM2 managed to get the bridge and hold it for a few minutes, but the inevitable retake by cF led to them getting another 2 cap outs to finish off what was still an eventful finals game albeit very much one sided. It was disappointing to only see 5 players show up for MM2.
